A small study out of Dijon, France shows that when 21 subjects added ketchup to French fries or ice cream to brownies, they tended to eat more. The reason for this was that the condiments prolonged the amount of time the foods tasted good, so subjects kept eating after they were satiated.
Oddly enough, mayo and whipped cream didn't have the same effect.
While I find this study interesting, what I really want to know is what in the hell are these Frenchies doing with fries and ketchup? Talk about slumming it. Also, considering the study came out of a place called Dijon, why didn't they test mustard too?
Thanks to Real Age for the pointer.
